Our Mission Statement

The mission of the Maryland Cattlemen's Association is to foster profitability, sustainability and stewardship across the Maryland beef industry through producer education, beef promotion and political action.

30th Anniversary Cattle Industry Convention a Resounding Success!

If you missed it, you missed 3 days of excellent teaching and presentations related to a variety of practical and important topics and issues critical to your success as a beef producer. And, you missed out on a lot of great food, fun and fellowship with other cattle producers from across the northeast and mid-Atlantic region. We were pleased to host, for the first-time, the Northeast Pasture Consortium Conference which added to the great teaching and interaction over the 3-day conference.

One of the true highlights of our 30th anniversary convention was the awarding of the first-ever Ned Sayre LEAD Md. Scholarship, only a short 2 years after the establishment of the scholarship fund. And it was especially meaningful to have Ned's dad, Lawrason Sayre, on hand to present the first scholarship to Alan Eck from Queen Annes county.

We also hosted the 13th annual youth Skill-A-Thon which brought a record participation of 184 youth from 14 counties across Maryland. The Skill-A-Thon has truly become the premier youth livestock event in Maryland thanks to the vision of the MCA , the leadership Chris Anderson, Bonnie Boyden and Karen Holloway, and the financial support of many generous donors. See the 2017 Top Hand Award pictures recognizing the outstanding leadership of Chris, Bonnie and Karen.

Finally, personally, and on behalf of my wife Teresa and daughter Hailey, we were very surprised and humbled to be presented with a 30-Year Top Hand Award. I can honestly say that it has been both an honor and a true labor of love to lead the Maryland Cattlemen's Association these 30 years and it has been especially sweet to do this often as a family affair.
